Costs for Your Domain Name and Web Site

The cost for purchasing your domain name is $35 per year, payable in 2 year increments, for an upfront cost of $70.

After the domain name is purchased, you will have to decide if you want a true domain or a “parked domain”. On my home page, you’ll find a list of the domains I designed and maintain. Each domain is listed as either parked or true, or their own server. Please check each site to see how they operate. This should help you decide which type of domain you want.

The true domain has 25 POP email addresses, and unlimited redirected addresses. These redirected addresses would be set up to show as one address on the internet, and would be sent to one email address known only by you.You also have access to something called a cgi bin, which enables you to use forms on the internet.

The “parked” domain would operate exactly like a true domain (all someone has to do is type www.yourdomain.com in the address box and they’ll go right to your site. The disadvantage of this type of domain only comes into consideration if you don’t want to use your current email address on the webpage.

Unfortunately, the SPAM engines constantly searching the internet for email addresses. If your address is listed on a page, it can be sent back to the engine and stored, to be used or sold to send the wonder SPAM email that we all love to receive! Another option would be to use a hotmail or yahoo email address on the web page so the SPAM engines would only find that address. You would then have to remember to check both addresses, however.

The set up cost for both domains is a one time charge of $50. After that, the cost for the domain would be $20 per month (billed quarterly) for the true domain, and $10 per month (billed quarterly) for the “parked” domain.

Costs for Building Your Site

Most sites can be built for an average cost of $350. The final cost depends completely on how complicated your site is. A MINIMUM CHARGE is $100, even if your site is only one page. This cost would include custom graphic designs.

If you would like to keep the costs down for your site, I can use one of the many templates I have available to me, and just fill in your text.

After your site is built, I charge $20 per hour to work on the site, updating the information online, with a MINIMUM CHARGE of one hour of service per month. In other words, if you only want a few things changed, and it only take me 15 minutes to make the changes, the charge will still be $20. However, if you want 4 changes done during a one month period, I will accumulate the times and the 4 15 minute changes would total $20 for the month.
